Marketing driven web site designs in CT, MA and RI

web site design in rhode island, connecticut to massachussets

The first question that we ask out web site design clients is...

"What is the objective of your web site?

Think about that question for a moment and then look at your own web site and ask yourself whether or not your web site is in alignment with your business goals.

At Web Design RI, our approach to web site design is as follows:

  • Complete a search engine optimization web site health check-up
  • Develop an understanding for the client company’s business/marketing plan and create a web site design plan based on the business plan
  • Benchmark the client company’s web site presence, and performance, to that of the client's primary competitors - the new web site design outperform the the competition, where possible.
  • Evaluate the presentation of the products and services against the business objective/marketing plan.
  • Develop a web site search engine optimization strategy
  • If requested, we will conduct an inexpensive marketing assessment of the client company’s business and present recommendations on how to position the business on the web site. We will investigate the following three categories.
  • SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis
  • Marketing Mix  - the 4 Ps (Product, price, place and promotion)
  • Assessment of the client businesses competitive landscape
  • Develop an understand how the client company’s employees will use the web site

So far, we haven’t written a piece of code and this is very important. Your website can only be truly successful if it reflects your business goals and objectives...it is your primary marketing tool and must reflect the marketing strategy.

One last step before we begin the web site design... we will create a set of metrics, for the existing web site, to create a benchmark to measure the performance of the new web site. After all we all operate in a results-based market place.

Once we have mapped out the web site marketing communication message, we begin the web site design using the following process. Almost all of these steps necessary to make your web site perform but will be invisible to you...there is a an awful lot of back office stuff required to make a site work and not everyone will take the time to do 'stuff' that the client cannot see.

  • select a color template to compliment the corporate identification and select, or shoot photography/artwork for the home page to reflect the marketing direction of the business plan.
  • design, or select a web site template, which will reflect both the corporate identity and the navigation structure for the web site
  • Web Design RI will set to work – using intelligent SEO structured URL's - but to ensure that there are no surprises and to make the process fully transparent a work-in-progress web site will be maintained online to allow the client company full access to every step of the web development process
  • develop a set of key words and phrases and create unique title and metadata information for EACH page in combination with search engine copywriting compelling content on each page
  • use structured H1,H2,H3 etc headings
  • use descriptive names on all images plus descriptive ALT tags
  • use descriptive anchor text
  • Create and install a sitemap.xml file and a sitemap.html file
  • Submit the URL to DMOZ and other directories
  • Submit the URL to all major search engines

These are the core actions on the site itself and will produce a soundly engineered SEO web site but other highly recommended actions to improve the search engine performance of your site are:

  • Install a blog - once you have established your web site it is likely that little will change where as you can up date your blog as often as you like and everytime you update it you will be adding pages to your site and will be showing the search engines that your site is active.
  • Update the site on a regular basis - do not leave your site dormant becasue it will not be long before the search engines overlook you for yur more active competitors.
  • Create as many backlinks as possible - on a level playing field, the site with the most backlinks will rank higher with the search engines
  • Use social networking media to promote your site - social networking media has many eyeballs be creative and drive traffic to your site...we will use the blog as the corner stone of the social media marketing strategy
  • Take the data from Google Analytics to fine tune your site - intepret the traffic data to understand the behaviour of your visitors and play to your strengths
  • Monitor the performance of keywords and phrases and adjust to maintain optimum performance - keyword performance can be very fluid, stay on top of your keyword performance and adapt as needed.
  • Monthly search-engine optimization reporting. For a small fee, we will assess the performance of your web site and make adjustment to enhance the web site performance.
